The Manifesta 9 Parallel Events Program is composed of 100 projects, that are closely aligned to the Region of Limburg and Genk, and in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.

Manifesta director Hedwig Fijen joined the opening of “Tesi Samanunga” on Saturday the 2nd of June, 2012 in the EXPOapostelhuis near Alden Biesen.

Parallel Events are collateral events taking place in the same period as Manifesta. This edition focuses on cultural projects being organised in the region of Belgian Limburg and neighbouring communities in Dutch Limburg, Germany and Wallonia.

Initiated by Manifesta 9, together with the Region of Limburg, the Parallel Events program aims to present a broader view of different aspects of the local cultural scene to the regional, national and international public.

Apart from being a cultural project, the Parallel Events program offers a communication platform for individual artists and interdisciplinary cultural producers who live and work in the region, for local institutions, art organisations and other cultural events.
