Finale of the Cultural Olympiad
21.06.2012 - 09.09.2012

The London 2012 Cultural Olympiad is the largest cultural celebration in the history of the modern Olympic and Paralympic Movements. Since 2008, the Cultural Olympiad has been inspiring creativity in all forms of arts and culture, especially among young people. It includes a wide range of events, from local projects to large-scale performances across the UK – 16 million people have taken part so far.
The culmination of the Cultural Olympiad will be the London 2012 Festival, bringing leading artists from all over the world together from 21 June 2012 in the UK’s biggest ever festival – a chance for everyone to celebrate London 2012 through dance, music, theatre, the visual arts, film and digital innovation, and leave a lasting legacy for the arts in the UK. The festival is happening all around the UK, with many free events suitable for families. At its heart will be a programme of commissions by some of the finest artists in the world in events ranging from pop to film, from visual arts and fashion to theatre, from circus to carnival, from opera to digital innovation.
In total, the festival will feature more than 1,000 events, with an estimated audience of well in excess of 10 million people. Some of the events will be ticketed, the majority will be free to attend. Many have already been announced, with more to come over the coming months.
